How is the Charles Beit Midrash related to social justice?

We try to bring together people who are interested in making Jewish learning and social justice an integral part of their lives.  One of our goals is to help people connect Judaism and social justice, both in thought and ispiration to action.

I don't have a chevruta (learning partner).  Can I still come?  How do I find a learning partner?

If you do not have a learning partner already, we can help you find one.  Please fill out our chavruta matching form and we will do our best to find you a compatible partner - someone at your learning level who shares a common learning interest.  If you have questions about the form or the chevruta matching process, please contact Sarah.

What happens at 8:00 following the teacher led session?

Following the teacher led session, there are several options available.  People can learn together in pairs to study material supplied by that evening's teacher or material they have brought on their own.  There is also a faciliated small group learning option meant to build chevruta style learning skills.

Can I lead a session?

Yes, anyone can lead a session.  We're always excited to have new teachers and we have support available if you would like help putting together a learning session. Interested?  Contact Jonah for more information.

Can I sponsor a session?

Of course, we are always looking for both people and organizations to sponsor learning.  If you would like to sponsor a session, please contact Andy for the details.

Can I suggest a teacher?

Sure.  Let us know who and we'll see what we can do.  Please email Ann.

How can I help out with the running of the Beit Midrash?

We are always looking for people to help!  We want this to be a community of learning supported by its learners.  Things you can help with include publicity, community relations, social outings coordinator, social action coordinator, carpool coordination, greeting/sign-in, set-up, clean-up ... the list goes on... if you think you have the time or inclination, please give us a ring - email us

Are there carpools to and from Brookline and Cambridge?

Yes.  If you are looking for carpool information to/from Cambridge, contact Leiba and if you are looking for carpool information to/from Brookline, we are actually still looking for a carpool coordinator!
