Opportunities for Social Justice

American Jewish Joint Distribution Committee, Inc. (JDC) has served as the overseas arm of the American Jewish community. Our mission is to serve the needs of Jews throughout the world, particularly where their lives as Jews are threatened or made more difficult.  They sponsor programs of relief, rescue and renewal and help Israel address its most urgent social challenges. We are committed to the idea that all Jews are responsible for one another.

American Jewish World Service (AJWS) is an international development organization motivated by Judaism’s imperative to pursue justice. AJWS is dedicated to alleviating poverty, hunger and disease among the people of the developing world regardless of race, religion or nationality.

Boston Cares organizes and leads team oriented volunteer opportunities throughout Greater Boston that have a positive impact on individuals and communities.

Carmei Ha'ir hopes to effect a conceptual change in the approach to poverty and social welfare, a change which will permeate all sectors of the population in Israel.

Coalition on the Environment and Jewish Life works to protect the environment in accordance with the Jewish ideals of social justice and preserving the integrity of creation.

Jewish Coalition for Service Organization was started by The Trust of Jewish Philanthropy as an umbrella organization for Jewish service organizations.

Jewish Communal Service Association(JCSA) links together highly educated, skilled, and Jewishly committed men and women in pursuit of a shared goal: The development and support of Jewish communal leadership as a valued and essential profession.

Jewish Community Relations Council of Greater Boston (JCRC) promotes a society that reflects the best of American and Jewish values -- in Greater Boston, Israel and around the world -- by convening and mobilizing the Jewish community.  Through advocacy, organizing, service and partnerships, JCRC pursues social justice, ensures a vibrant Jewish community, and builds a network of support for Israel.

Jewish Deaf Community Center (JDCC) promotes individual growth, social awareness, productivity and equality, by empowering deaf and hard of hearing persons to be full participants in the Jewish community at large. 

Jewish Vocational Service (JVS) is a San Francisco based organization that builds the skills needed to succeed in today's workplace. We assist individuals to achieve self-sufficiency, and help businesses fulfill their employment goals.

Jewish Women's Archive's mission is to uncover, chronicle, and transmit the rich history of American Jewish women.

MAZON: A Jewish Response to Hunger is a Los Angeles based organization that allocates donations from the Jewish community to prevent and alleviate hunger among people of all faiths and backgrounds.


Miklat is the only network of shelters in Israel that addresses the needs of observant women and children caught in the vise of domestic abuse.

Moishe/Kavod House's goals are to create an inclusive community of young Jews and activists through Shabbat dinners, social action, Jewish learning, and the arts, connect the Jewish community with social action and tikkun olam work and train and develop young Jewish leaders to build community, organize social action work, and run Jewish programming.

Social Action is a Jewish online magazine committed to the Jewish ideal of Tikkun Olam.


Stars of David International, Inc. is a nonprofit information and support network for Jewish and interfaith adoptive families of all sizes, ages, and origins.

United Jewish Communities promotes the interests and concerns of the United Jewish Communities, the umbrella organization uniting 155 Jewish Federations and 400 independent communities, to members of Congress and the Administration. UJC Washington works to ensure that the voice of the Jewish federations is a prominent force in health and human service policy decisions.

VFI: Volunteers for Israel provides Diaspora Jewry and other friends of Israel with an opportunity to assist in the strengthening of Israel through hands-on work, to enhance the bonds and solidarity between the volunteers and Israelis, to intensify the Jewish identity of Jewish youth living in the Diaspora and to develop mutual understanding and to enrich personal and cultural values through the dynamics of Israeli and volunteer participants working together.

World Council of Jewish Communal Service is a non-political, non-governmental organization of Jewish communal workers who are engaged in a variety of communal, educational and social services devoted to strengthening Jewish life and community both in Israel and the Diaspora.
